WDZN-YJY-0.6/1kV
WDZN-YJY Low Smoke Halogen Free Fire Resistant Cable
One cable for the two requirements that normally take two: circuit integrity and zero halogen.
Hospitals, metro stations and tunnels ask for two things at once: the circuit must survive the fire, and the cable must not fill the escape route with acid smoke while it does. WDZN-YJY puts a mica barrier under the XLPE insulation and wraps the assembly in halogen-free bedding and sheath, so circuit integrity to GB/T 19216.21 at 750 °C for 90 minutes and low-smoke zero-halogen performance come from one construction instead of two cables in two trays.
The gain is procurement and installation simplicity: one drum type, one gland schedule, one cleat spacing and one test file. Voltcore supplies WDZN-YJY at 0.6/1 kV in one to five cores from 1.5 mm² to 300 mm², with steel tape armouring as WDZN-YJY23 for buried or outdoor sections of the same circuit, and with BS 6387 C/W/Z or EN 50200 PH90 submissions where the project names an English standard rather than a GB one.

Engineering characteristics
- Mica barrier under the XLPE holds the circuit at 750 °C for 90 minutes to GB/T 19216.21 with rated voltage applied.
- Halogen-free sheath releases not more than 5 mg/g acid gas to IEC 60754-1, keeping switchgear and electronics recoverable after a fire.
- Smoke transmittance not below 60% to IEC 61034-2, roughly three times the visibility left by a PVC-sheathed fire cable.
- 90 °C continuous and 250 °C short-circuit ratings mean no ampacity derating against standard XLPE cable.
- Flame retardance to GB/T 19666 class A or B and IEC 60332-3-24 category C covers long bunched vertical runs.
- Class 2 copper gives 1.83 Ω/km at 10 mm² falling to 0.124 Ω/km at 150 mm², so voltage drop can be checked on long hospital risers.
- Armoured WDZN-YJY23 covers the outdoor and buried sections of the same essential circuit.

WDZN-YJY LSZH Fire Resistant Cable — frequently asked questions
Does a halogen-free sheath reduce fire resistance compared with PVC?
No. Circuit integrity comes from the mica barrier under the insulation; the sheath burns away in both cases within the first minutes of flame contact. Halogen-free changes what is released while that happens — less acid gas, more visibility — so it improves the outcome for people and equipment without altering the integrity test result.
What is the difference between WDZ-YJY and WDZN-YJY?
The N stands for fire resistant. WDZN-YJY adds two layers of mica tape to each conductor and is submitted to a circuit-integrity test with voltage applied during the fire. WDZ-YJY is halogen-free and flame retardant only, tested for flame spread and smoke. The two look similar on a drum, so check the datasheet standard rather than the sheath colour.
Can a fire pump feeder and escape lighting share one cable schedule?
Yes if the core count and cross-section suit both, which is uncommon: a pump feeder is usually 25 mm² or larger while lighting circuits are 4 mm² or less. Buying them on one order makes sense for the test file and drum labelling, but size them separately and keep pump circuits on their own cores so a lighting fault cannot trip the pump.
Is WDZN-YJY suitable for tunnels that are washed down?
Yes, using the armoured WDZN-YJY23 with sealed glands. The mica barrier is not hygroscopic, unlike the magnesium oxide in rigid MI cable, so water at a cut end does not destroy insulation resistance along the length. For permanently wet sections, specify tinned conductors and gel-filled or heat-shrink terminations.
