RE-2Y(St)Y-300/500V
RE-2Y(St)Y PiMF Instrumentation Cable — DIN VDE Designated
The European equivalent of the DJ range: PE pairs, static screen, DIN 47100 identification.
RE-2Y(St)Y is the DIN VDE designation used on European projects for the construction that Chinese specifications call DJYVP. Reading it: 2Y is polyethylene core insulation, (St) is a collective static screen of laminated foil with a tinned drain wire, and the final Y is the PVC sheath. PiMF — pairs in metal foil — describes the same idea applied to each pair, and Voltcore supplies both the PiMF and the collective-screen version.
European panel builders usually specify it for two reasons beyond performance: the core colours follow the DIN 47100 sequence that their drawings and termination schedules already use, and the sheath is available in light blue for intrinsically safe circuits, which is the identification an Ex i installer expects to see. Voltcore holds both compounds and the colour sequence in stock at Yixing so the cable matches a European drawing without a re-engineering round.

RE-2Y(St)Y PiMF Instrumentation Cable — frequently asked questions
What does RE-2Y(St)Y mean?
2Y is polyethylene core insulation, (St) is a collective static screen of laminated foil with a drain wire, and the final Y is a PVC sheath. The leading RE identifies the instrumentation cable family under the German designation system used alongside DIN VDE 0816.
Is a foil screen as good as a braid?
At high frequency, better — a continuous foil gives 100 % coverage with no apertures. At power frequency and at VFD carrier frequencies the braid wins, because the deciding factor there is the resistance of the shield path. For instrumentation signals, which are neither high current nor fast, the foil is the usual and cheaper answer.
Can I get this cable with DIN 47100 colours?
Yes. Voltcore stocks the DIN 47100 colour sequence for the RE-2Y(St)Y range, so pairs are identified by the colour combination European drawings already specify. Numbered tape or printed numbering is used above roughly 10 pairs.
Why is the sheath blue on some versions?
Light blue identifies an intrinsically safe circuit under IEC 60079-14 installation practice. It tells an installer that the cable is part of an energy-limited circuit and must not be grouped with non-IS circuits without separation.
