DJYPV-300/500V
DJYPV Instrumentation Cable — Each Pair Individually Braid Screened
A braid over every pair, so crosstalk between channels stops at the pair boundary.
In DJYPV the shield letter P comes before the sheath letter V, which in the GB coding means the copper wire braid is applied over each pair rather than over the bundle. Every channel travels inside its own Faraday cage, so a pair carrying a 24 V DC switching circuit cannot inject a spike into the 4–20 mA pair next to it, and a millivolt signal survives alongside a pulse train.
Each pair screen is drained individually. That is the part most installations get wrong: connecting every pair screen to earth at both ends lets a ground potential difference drive circulating current through the screens, which couples into the very conductors the screens are protecting. Voltcore lays a tinned drain wire against each pair braid so that the termination is a single, clean contact rather than a bundle of loose wires.

Engineering characteristics
- A separate copper braid over each pair, so interference cannot pass between channels inside the cable
- Crosstalk attenuation of at least 70 dB between adjacent screened pairs at 1 kHz
- Tinned drain wire on every pair for a single-point, low-inductance termination
- Polyethylene insulation keeps mutual capacitance at ≤ 60–85 pF/m
- 300/500 V rating, 2 kV rms core to core and 1 kV rms core to screen
- 1 to 24 pairs in 0.5–2.5 mm² for dense multi-channel homeruns
- Blue sheath and documented capacitance for intrinsically safe entity calculations
Typical applications
- Multi-channel analogue racks where 4–20 mA and 1–5 V channels share one cable
- Thermocouple and millivolt signal homeruns to a DCS or recorder
- Pulse and frequency output wiring from flow meters alongside analogue channels
- Analyser houses where low-level signals and solenoid drives occupy the same tray
- Test benches and laboratory instrumentation looms

DJYPV Individual Pair Screened Instrumentation Cable — frequently asked questions
How is DJYPV different from DJYVP?
DJYPV screens each pair individually and has no screen over the bundle; DJYVP does the opposite. If all channels are the same signal class, DJYVP is smaller and cheaper. If channels of different classes share the cable, DJYPV is the correct construction.
Should each pair screen be earthed at both ends?
No. Earth each pair screen at one end only, normally the control system end, so that a ground potential difference cannot drive circulating current through the screens. Where both ends are required for RF reasons, bond the screens to a common low-impedance earth plane at the panel.
Do I still need an overall screen?
If the cable runs through an area with strong external fields — near a drive, a transformer or a radio transmitter — add the overall braid and specify DJYPVP. Individual pair screens stop internal crosstalk; they are less effective as a barrier against an external field over a long run.
What diameter increase should I allow for pair screens?
Roughly 0.8 mm on overall diameter and 12–18 % on mass compared with the equivalent unscreened-pair construction, depending on pair count. Allow for it when sizing glands; the reference table gives figures for the 4-pair construction.
