DJYVP-300/500V
DJYVP Instrumentation Cable — Polyethylene Insulated, Overall Braid Screened
PE-insulated pairs under one copper braid screen, for analogue and digital runs of a single signal class.
Read the code from left to right: D marks the electronic computer and instrumentation family, Y is polyethylene insulation, V is the PVC sheath, and the P written after the sheath letter means the copper wire braid sits over the whole laid-up bundle. That overall screen is the economical choice when every pair in the cable carries the same class of signal — a rack of 4–20 mA loops leaving a control room, or a single digital bus to a remote I/O panel.
Polyethylene is not an incidental detail. With a dielectric constant near 2.3 against roughly 4–6 for PVC, it holds mutual capacitance to about 60 pF/m at 0.5 mm², which is what keeps a 4–20 mA loop within its transmitter load limit and lets an RS-485 segment reach its rated distance. Voltcore twists each pair at a lay length of 40–70 mm, chosen so that consecutive pairs do not share a repeating beat and crosstalk does not accumulate.

Engineering characteristics
- Polyethylene insulation holds mutual capacitance to ≤ 60–85 pF/m, roughly half the value of a PVC pair
- Pairs twisted at 40–70 mm lay length with the length varied between pairs to suppress crosstalk buildup
- Copper wire braid at 80–90 % coverage over the whole bundle with a tinned drain wire
- 300/500 V rating, 2 kV rms core to core and 1 kV rms core to screen for 5 min
- 1 to 24 pairs in 0.5–2.5 mm², so one cable can serve an entire remote I/O drop
- Blue sheath option to identify intrinsically safe circuits to IEC 60079-14 practice
- Minimum bending radius 10 × overall diameter, which suits dense marshalling racks
Typical applications
- 4–20 mA analogue loops between field transmitters and a control room marshalling panel
- Remote I/O drops where all pairs carry the same signal class

DJYVP Overall Screened Instrumentation Cable — frequently asked questions
Is DJYVP the same as DJYPVP?
No. In the GB type code the shield letter before the sheath letter V means individual pair screens, and the letter after V means an overall screen. DJYVP therefore carries one braid over the whole bundle; DJYPVP carries a braid over each pair plus a braid over the bundle.
Why polyethylene insulation instead of PVC on an instrumentation pair?
Capacitance. PE has a dielectric constant near 2.3 against roughly 4–6 for PVC, which holds mutual capacitance to about 60 pF/m against 90–130 pF/m. That keeps the loop inside the transmitter load limit and lets long RS-485 segments reach their rated distance.
Can I put a 24 V DC switching circuit and a 4–20 mA pair in one DJYVP cable?
It is poor practice. The overall braid stops interference entering the cable but not interference generated inside it, so a switched inductive load will induce spikes into the analogue pair. Use DJYPVP with individual pair screens, or run the switching circuit in a separate cable.
What pair counts are available and how is the pair identified?
Voltcore supplies 1 to 24 pairs in 0.5–2.5 mm². Pairs are identified by colour combination to a standard sequence, with numbered tape or printed numbering above roughly 10 pairs so that termination crews can identify a pair without tracing it.
