KVV-450/750V
KVV PVC Insulated and Sheathed Control Cable — 450/750 V
The standard unscreened PVC control cable for switchgear, MCC cubicles and plant interlocks.
KVV is the benchmark control cable in Chinese-built switchgear and MCC line-ups: PVC/A insulation over Class 2 plain annealed copper, laid up with non-hygroscopic fillers, bound with polyester tape and finished in a black PVC ST1 sheath. It is specified for 450/750 V control circuits — contactor coils, interlock strings, solenoid valves, annunciator panels — where the signal is a switching state rather than an analogue value and no screen is required. Voltage drop, core count and termination density drive the selection, not capacitance.
Because KVV carries no screen, it belongs in panels and racks that are physically separated from power conductors; the usual rule is 300 mm clearance from cables above 1 kV, or a grounded steel divider in a shared tray. Voltcore supplies KVV from its Yixing plant with ZR and WDZ sheath compounds, tinned conductors for humid sites, and KVV22 steel-tape armour where the run leaves the tray. Core identification can be numbered, colour-coded to DIN 47100, or matched to a customer sequence.

KVV PVC Control Cable — frequently asked questions
What does the type designation KVV actually mean?
K marks it as a control cable to GB/T 9330, the first V denotes PVC insulation and the second V denotes a PVC sheath. No letter for screening appears, so the cable is unscreened by definition. Rated voltage is 450/750 V, meaning 450 V to earth and 750 V between conductors.
Can KVV be installed outdoors or buried directly?
The PVC ST1 sheath is UV-stabilised and moisture-resistant, but it is not rated for soil stress or mechanical damage. For direct burial use KVV22 with steel tape armour, or run KVV in conduit. In sunlight, expect a reduced service life unless a UV-resistant black sheath compound is specified.
How is KVV different from KVVP?
KVVP adds a copper wire braid screen, normally 80–90 % coverage with a tinned drain wire, beneath the sheath. That screen gives induced noise a low-resistance path to earth, which KVV cannot provide. KVVP costs more and has a larger overall diameter, so it is specified only where the EMC study requires it.
What is the minimum order quantity and can sizes be mixed?
Voltcore works to 500 m per size and cross-section. Different sizes can be combined in one 20 ft container from Shanghai or Ningbo, with delivery in 15–25 working days. Samples of up to 5 m are free, and payment is T/T 30 % deposit, L/C at sight, or Western Union for sample freight.
