LIYCY-250V
LIYCY Braid Screened Data and Signal Cable
The European screened data cable: fine-wire cores, tinned copper braid, VDE-recognised construction.
The VDE code reads directly from the construction: Li stands for a fine-wire stranded conductor, Y for PVC core insulation, C for the copper braid screen, and the final Y for the PVC sheath. LIYCY is the cable European panel builders reach for when a machine or a control desk needs screened signal wiring that behaves predictably at low voltage — 250 V nominal, tested at 1 200 V, and never intended for mains supply duty.
What distinguishes it from a generic screened flexible cable is the braid. LIYCY carries a dense tinned copper braid over the laid-up cores, which gives both the coverage and the low-resistance path that a signal cable needs when it runs next to contactors and drives. Voltcore builds it with the DIN colour sequence and in the core counts European drawings list, so a substitution does not require a drawing change.

Engineering characteristics
- Tinned copper braid at ≥ 85 % coverage, giving both high coverage and a low-resistance shield path
- Class 5 fine-wire conductors from 0.14 mm² to 2.5 mm² for dense multi-core signal looms
- 250 V nominal rating with a 1 200 V rms test voltage on core to core and core to screen
- Grey RAL 7032 sheath as standard, matching European panel practice
- Minimum bending radius 6 × overall diameter, so it routes through tight panel corners
- DIN colour sequence with numbered print above 10 cores
- Compatible with standard EMC glands, giving a 360° screen termination
Typical applications
- Screened signal and data wiring in machine control cabinets
- Interfacing between PLCs, operator terminals and remote devices

LIYCY Braid Screened Data Cable — frequently asked questions
Can LIYCY be used for mains voltage?
No. It is rated 250 V for signal and low-voltage circuits and is explicitly not intended for mains supply duty. Use a harmonised power or control cable with a published current rating for anything connected to the supply.
What does the C in LIYCY stand for?
C denotes the copper braid screen. Li is a fine-wire stranded conductor, the two Y letters are PVC core insulation and PVC sheath respectively. A cable coded LIYY has the same construction without the screen and is used where interference is not a concern.
Is the braid tinned, and does it matter?
Standard LIYCY uses a tinned copper braid. Tinning resists corrosion in humid or coastal installations and keeps the contact resistance of the screen termination stable over years, which matters because the screen is what carries interference to earth.
How many cores can LIYCY be supplied in?
Voltcore builds 2 to 25 cores in 0.14–2.5 mm². Above 10 cores the sequence moves to numbered printing so that the termination crew can identify cores without tracing them, and the braid coverage is verified on the finished diameter rather than on the bundle.
