KVVRP-450/750V
KVVRP Flexible Copper Braid Screened Control Cable — 450/750 V
Class 5 conductors inside a copper braid screen, for screened circuits that move.
KVVRP combines the two properties that rarely appear together in control cable: Class 5 flexible conductors and a copper wire braid screen, at a full 450/750 V rating. It is the answer when a screened control circuit terminates on something that moves — a machine carriage, a rotating index table, a door-mounted operator panel — and where Class 2 stranded conductors would work-harden at the bend within a few thousand cycles.
The screen has to flex with the cable, which is why KVVRP uses a braid rather than a tape: a woven braid redistributes itself as the cable bends, whereas a 0.05 mm copper tape cracks at the same radius. Voltcore holds the braid angle between 30° and 45° so coverage does not open up under repeated bending, and supplies a tinned drain wire so the screen can be landed without disturbing the weave.

Engineering characteristics
- Class 5 conductors and a braid screen together, rated 450/750 V
- Bending radius of 6 × overall diameter, against 15 × for the rigid KVVP equivalent
- Braid held at 30–45° so coverage is retained through repeated flexing
- Tinned drain wire allows the screen to be terminated without disturbing the weave
- 2.5 kV rms for 5 min test voltage, including core to screen
- PVC/A insulation rated 70 °C continuous, 160 °C for 5 s short circuit
- ZR-KVVRP flame-retardant and WDZ low-smoke halogen-free sheath compounds available

KVVRP Flexible Braid Screened Control Cable — frequently asked questions
When should I use KVVRP instead of KVVP?
When the screened circuit moves. Both carry a copper braid at 450/750 V, but KVVP uses Class 2 conductors for fixed installation with a 15 × overall diameter bending radius, while KVVRP uses Class 5 conductors and tolerates 6 × overall diameter under repeated movement.
Will the braid screen survive repeated flexing?
Yes, far better than a tape screen. The braid redistributes itself as the cable bends, and holding the braid angle between 30° and 45° keeps coverage stable. What limits the cable in continuous flexing service is the conductor and sheath, not the screen.
Is KVVRP suitable for a drag chain?
It handles moderate flexing duty well but is not a purpose-built chain cable. For continuous high-cycle carrier duty at speed, specify a PUR-sheathed drag chain cable; Voltcore quotes that separately with a cycle-life figure for the bend radius involved.
Can I use KVVRP for a VFD motor lead?
For short, flexible motor connections, yes — the braid gives the common-mode current a defined return path. For the fixed run between the drive and the motor, use a purpose-designed VFD cable with a low-capacitance construction and terminate the screen 360° at both ends.
